Lawyers for Forests provides legal information workhops for conservationists about their rights and responsibilities when taking part in a protest. We also provide workshops to community and environment groups about the legal framework regulating logging in Victoria.
If you would like us to present a workshop for your group, please contact us.
We believe that individuals participating in non-violent protests should always understand their rights and be properly advised before, during and after taking part in a protest, including to decrease the likelihood and severity of confrontations with logging contractors and Government agency staff in our forests.
Conservationists are also playing an increasingly important role in the protection of threatened species and communities in our forests through citizen-science surveys and monitoring programs. Understanding how the law works to protect threatened species when they are found in our forests is crucial to achieving protection.
